The Texas Research Park encompasses over 1,200 acres in west Bexar County and is operated by the Texas Research & Technology Foundation (TRTF). TRTF is a science and technology-based economic developer for San Antonio and South Texas.

The TRP is home to approximately 350 scientists and students working in over 267,000 square feet of research and support space. The University of Texas Health Science center, San Antonio operates the UT Institute of Biotechnology, the South Texas Centers for Biology in Medicine, the Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging, and the AT&T teleconference Center. The Cancer Therapy and Research Center operates the Institute for Drug development and the Southwest Oncology Group.

Commercial enterprises include Genzyme, BioMedical Enterprises, Texas Human Biologics, OncoVista, and a host of other small growing companies.
